Trump Says NY MP Stefanik Could “Become President In About 6 Years” At Mar-A-Lago Fundraiser

The Political Insider

MP Elise Stefanik (R-NY) received pretty high approval from former President Donald Trump on Tuesday night at a fundraiser at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

The fundraiser was for Stefanik, several other Republican candidates, and Trump’s political action committee. Trump teased the crowd with hints that he was considering running for president in 2024, which has been the focus of attention.

But Trump also dropped a small nugget on Stefanik and said, “I want to congratulate Elise on her success. Man she moves fast. That means that at this rate she will be president in about 6 years. “

The comment is sure to raise the eyebrows of Trump’s America First supporters.

Get Trump’s backing

Donald Trump continued to praise Stefanik, saying, “She was always a friend and people would say she is rising. She goes to Washington as a beautiful young woman who has taken the helm and suddenly she becomes a rocket ship, she is the boss. She was a great boss, a strong boss. “

In May 2021, Trump advocated Stefanik to replace Rep Liz Cheney (R-WY) as chair of the House of Representatives Republican Conference. Cheney is a “Never Trumper” who also voted for the impeachment of the president.

Not always a Trump supporter

Elise Stefanik is one of Donald Trump’s most staunch defenders today, but it hasn’t always been that way.

At the beginning of the 2016 campaign, there was Trump’s infamous counterfeit with Megyn Kelly from what was then Fox News Channel.

Regarding Trump’s remarks about Kelly at the time, Stefanik said:

“I think he offended women, I think this could be Mr. Trump’s high point. And I think we will see how its number will change and decrease in the weeks and months to come as the other candidates have the opportunity to share their vision for the future of this country. We need to make sure we increase our party’s ability to reach women, and that’s what I’m working on in Congress. I take care of that passionately. And Donald Trump’s comments have not helped those efforts. You have harmed this effort. “

Stefanik also attacked Trump’s proposal to ban immigration from countries that support terrorism, saying: “We are not as a country … It is not in line with our constitutional principle.”

Stefanik was also not on board Trump’s signature campaign promise to build a wall on the US southern border. After Trump took office in 2017, she said of the construction of the wall: “I don’t think that’s realistic, I don’t think the president’s plan is spot on.”

Supporting Other Republican Women

Despite her initial criticism of Donald Trump, Elise Stefanik pays off her support for Trump by supporting eight women from across the nation running for seats in the House of Representatives in 2022 “Women to Watch.”

One of those recommendations went to Monica De La Cruz, one of several Republican Hispanic women running in Texas. De La Cruz hopes to turn the Texas 15th Congressional District around.

Stefanik said of the endorsements, “I look forward to supporting these women across the finish line in both their primary and parliamentary elections. Make no mistake, the GOP women will be the first to step through the breach to fire Nancy Pelosi once and for all. ”
