There is “maybe more” of the Elden Ring developers at The Game Awards

FromSoftware unveiled Elden Ring’s first in-game footage at Summer Game Fest Kick Off Live, and there could be more at the next big event hosted by Geoff Keighley. The Game Awards are scheduled to air on Thursday, December 9th, and Keighley is making the show’s announcements even bigger than usual.

“The Summer Game Fest was a new thing I created,” Keighley told USA Today. “The fact that FromSoftware bet on me and the Summer Game Fest, where they could have done more traditional E3 stuff, that meant a lot to me. It was a great honor to work with the From guys, so stay tuned, there may be more to come. “

Regarding the Elden Ring trailer on Kick Off Live, Keighley says there are “probably four or five things of this level” at The Game Awards. He adds that “probably six or ten of our games are things people don’t know exist, but we’re going to reveal them in a fun way on the show.” (Keighley previously said there would be 40 to 50 games total on the show.)

So if you do the math, that’s 40 to 50 games at The Game Awards, six to ten of which will be brand new announcements, and four to five of the announcements Keighley accepts are on par with Elden Ring in scope. Among those numbers, we can certainly expect some PC games to come.

Don’t expect Diablo 4 or Overwatch 2 to be part of these announcements. While Activision Blizzard continues to be investigated on allegations of sexual discrimination and harassment, Keighley confirmed on Twitter last week that “Activision Blizzard will not be attending this year’s The Game Awards.”

Activision Blizzard President Rob Kostich is a member of The Game Awards’ Advisory Board.
