Brandon Scott Jones explains Isaac’s coming out at Ghosts

Not the coming out story we expected.

On the November 18 episode of Ghosts titled “D&D,” viewers saw Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones), the ghost of a soldier of the Revolutionary War, a shocking confession: he is a murderer. A flashback revealed that Isaac accidentally shot and killed his British rival, Nigel, while admiring the enemy through glasses that he clipped to a rifle.

This was understandably shocking news to Nigel, but it was even more surprising to us as we thought Isaac was going to reveal his true feelings for the British soldier. Isaac’s sexuality has been hinted at throughout the series, with the 245-year-old ghost even seeming to have a crush on Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) in one place.

And in “D&D” the ghost colleagues suggested that Isaac and Nigel have had a crush on each other for some time. Why didn’t Isaac tell Nigel how he really feels in the new episode?

Well, according to Brandon, this is just one step on Isaac’s greater journey of self-discovery. “Yes, Isaac comes out of the closet this episode, but not necessarily a homosexual,” he told E! News, “but as a murderer”.

According to Brandon, Isaac suffered “much guilt and shame” for this accident and possibly blamed his sexuality for it.
