As you may have heard, the rain is out of control in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Not only is it torrential, but it also has some “sorting issues” (as highlighted by Digital Foundry) where things like pools of water get layered from rain.
While Switch gamers unfortunately have to wait for the release of an official patch for the Nintendo Switch version of the game, as reported by Kotaku, modders on PC seem to have come to the rescue and are already trying to fix rain issues (and this after Rockstar wiped out the existing versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas on the same platform).
I HAVE SET RAIN! HAS TO BE DETERMINED GROUND GRID PATTERN, BUT MY FIRST MOD FOR THIS GAME !!!!!!!! by GTATrilogyMods
These mods go by names like “Regenfix” and essentially make the rain more transparent – making it a lot easier to see what you’re doing in each of the game worlds when it rains. In the meantime, other modders step in to restore things like missing radio stations.
The owner and CEO of Grove Street Games (the studio behind the latest version of the trilogy) stated last week that the development team had updates in the works, so hopefully a “rain fix” is on the agenda:
“It’s so fun to see the players out there really enjoying what we’ve put together for them. I honestly enjoy this unprecedented level of control in our studio. Today we’re celebrating our monumental project launch while we work on updates. “
