GTA trilogy footage will be released prior to release

Gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was released online the day before the game’s official release. Although the cause of the leak has not been confirmed, some gamers claim that the trilogy was briefly available on the PlayStation Store in Australia.

Players are sharing footage from the game on YouTube and Reddit, so you might want to avert your eyes to avoid spoilers. As discovered by VGC, a gamer shared over an hour of footage on YouTube that includes all three remastered games: Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas. Aside from the spiced up graphics, you can see new features like the weapon wheel from later GTA games and the ability to instantly restart missions that have failed.

Elsewhere, players on Twitter and Reddit report that a select number of individuals gained early access to the game through the PlayStation Store in Australia. However, it doesn’t seem like an easy case to be in the country as a Reddit user reports that they couldn’t access the game, so it’s likely that someone quickly fixed the reported bug. Note, however, that this does not need to be confirmed just yet. We have contacted Rockstar and Sony and will update this story if we hear anything.

If you’re curious about when you can play the remasters yourself, we’ve rounded up the GTA: Trilogy release time in each country – even in Australia, but based on the actual unlock time, for example.

PC gamers will need to pick up the new trilogy on the Rockstar Launcher as Rockstar removed Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas on Steam. You also won’t be able to preload the game until it appears on PC, although this option has been available for PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch users for a few days now.

What’s new, Rockstar has remastered all three games with higher-resolution textures, larger character distances, improved effects, and a “completely rebuilt lighting system”. Check out the trailer below for a look:
