Actor Richard Madden, who plays the 20,000-year-old superhero Ikaris in “The Eternals,” says he loved the opportunity to take on a completely different character.

He told HeyUGuys.com: “In this piece, the bait for me that I found was, ‘Do you want to play someone who is five, seven thousand years old?’

“As an actor, you can never really do that. Not many characters are seven thousand years old – I’m sure there are some vampires, but often we can’t play characters that old, ”said Richard Madden.

“That was for me – instead of thinking of it as a Marvel piece – ‘OK, how do I play a character, how do I bring joy to someone who has seen everything and done everything a million times over? ‘“

The 35-year-old Scottish star also loved the opportunity to see Camden in a whole new light when the cast was filmed on location in the area, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Richard Madden added, “Over this bridge that we have crossed many times – me and Gemma and Kit together – I was allowed to fly over it. So I had to have this different angle on Camden. I thought, ‘I’ll never see Camden like this again’.

“It is very good to just hang on to these wires and the crane to look out over the canal. Completely different from when we are usually there at two o’clock in the morning. “

There was an opportunity to work with filmmaker Chloe Zhao, who was at the helm of the film.

Richard Madden said, “She has the nice thing about running the camera before the action and after the cut, so often she captures those intimate moments of the characters by having a thought of their own, or when it’s the actor himself, a thought.

“But one way or another – especially in a film that is so story-driven – there are those moments that you get with these characters alone to give them an additional dimension. She has a real knack at capturing that. “
