Game Of Thrones Trivia # 17: How Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams & Emilia Clark Celebrated the Show’s Success (Photo Credit – Instagram; Still from Game Of Thrones)
Game Of Thrones may have aired its final episode on May 19, 2019, but the show is still fresh in all of our hearts and minds. This fantasy drama, an adaptation of George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, gave some actors a dream platform to advance their careers, and the stars are more than thankful for it. In fact, some performers also got GOT-related tattoos on their bodies.
Shocked? Well, don’t be. Three of the show’s lead actresses (who made it come alive right up to the last episode – though one dies before it was done) got tattooed in honor of the show. Wondering who? Don’t worry about who they are – it’s Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams & Emilia Clarke aka Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, and Daenerys Targaryen.
The Strong Sister – Sophie & Maisie
Although Game Of Thrones first aired on April 17, 2011, the Stark daughters – Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Maisie Williams (Arya) only got their first tattoos in celebration of the show in season six. The on-screen sisters are off-camera besties who have decided to honor their career-defining show with matching tattoos. Reading your tattoos – 07/07/09. Are you wondering what the date stands for? Well, it’s the date the duo got the roles of the Stark sister – August 7th, 2009.
A few years after getting her first Game Of Thrones ink starring Maisie Williams, Sophie was ready for her next. This time the actress visited Sydney-based artist Lauren Winzer and had the Stark seal – a direwolf on her forearm – tattooed. The picture was accompanied by three words – “The pack survived.
While Sophie Turner got the House Stark seal as her second tattoo, her on-screen younger sister got her name. But no, it’s not Arya Stark written on her body. The young girl who became a murderer shortly after breaking up with her was stripped of her name at The House of Black and White and given the name “No One”. And that’s exactly what she has written on her neck. We are sure that the many faced God of GOT and Jaqen H’ghar are satisfied with this.
Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke doesn’t need an introduction as Daenerys Targaryen thanks to her strong character and dragons. Her character had quite a bite from having nothing to slowly build an empire, but also losing those who were close to her. While she lost many (including her brother, husband, and best friends), it was the death of her dragons that hurt the most. After filming the show for over a decade, Mother of Dragons got a tattoo dedicated to her three dragon children – Rhaegal, Drogon and Viserion – on her right wrist.
