Rep. Glenn Thompson was discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday evening following his positive diagnosis of Covid-19.

The vaccinated Republican from Pennsylvania “returned to his home in Pennsylvania for rest,” according to a statement from his office on Saturday and will be virtually working from home next week.

“He thanks the attending physician in the US Capitol and the doctors, nurses and employees of Walter Reed for their concern and care,” the statement said.

According to a statement posted on Twitter on Friday, Thompson began “cold-like symptoms and was promptly tested for COVID-19” on Friday afternoon.

He was treated “out of caution” by Walter Reed, the statement said.

Thompson, who represents the 15th district of Pennsylvania in the northwestern portion of the state, is among dozens of federal lawmakers who have announced they have tested positive for Covid-19 during the pandemic, with at least eight members of the House testing since early August positive.
