“Saturday Night Live” has occupied both sides of the political corridor in its latest “Weekend Update” segment.

Co-hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che returned to the Sketch show’s fake news desk on Saturday, where they opened things up with jokes at the expense of Republicans like Steve Bannon, for whom the House recently voted with disdain.

Jost began by stating that former President Donald Trump’s longtime ally and advisor was despised at a rare moment of bipartisanism for defying a committee summons to investigate the January 6th violent uprising in the Capitol. However, the comedian noted that the negative attention paid to Bannon is still a positive thing.

“That’s what Bannon wants, it just plays into his whole haunted messiah complex,” he said.
“Bannon is similar to Jesus in that it looks like he’s been dead for 3 days.”

Che then took power to convict Arizona Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema for sideizing with the Republicans and declaring that she would not tax the rich to pay for President Joe Biden’s agenda.

“Finally someone is speaking out in favor of billionaires because it’s so hard to hear them from space,” joked Che, showing a graphic by Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk, both of whom have companies devoted to space travel.

They ended their attacks on the Republicans by discovering that Trump had announced the release of his own social media network called TRUTH Social.

“But most people know it by its original name, the National Sex Offender Registry,” Che scoffed.

The duo proved that everything is fair when it comes to getting toasted by Weekend Update, and then went on to beat President Biden for his approval rating. They discovered Biden stated during a town hall over the weekend that he had not had time to visit the US southern border.

“Although he has his approval rating,” Jost scoffed next to a graph of the president’s declining approval rating, which was also good comedic fodder for the episode’s cold opening.

Jost added: “Insiders also say that President Biden repeatedly uses the F-word in conversations during meetings.

Elsewhere in the segment, guest host Jason Sudeikis repeated a role he had played earlier on the show when he was a performer – The Devil. He joined the hosts for taking credit for recent things like earthquakes, Instagram for kids, climate change, the Astros win, and more for the past five years since he was no longer on the show.

At one point he joked that Prince Andrew kept calling him and that Rush Limbaugh in hell “speaks my ear”. Sudeikis ended the segment by joking with Jost that he was going to take back their deal that allowed him to marry actress Scarlett Johansson.
