To update [Tue 5th Oct, 2021 05:30 BST]: Well, there seems to be more than just shots of it Metroid horror was leaked online prior to launch this week. Here is some more information courtesy of the Nintendo Dataminer OatlmealDome:

[Metroid Dread]

The game leaked on the internet a few hours ago.

– The code name seems to be “cazadora” (Spanish for “huntress”).
– The game engine is something I’ve never seen before.
– Interestingly, all game parameters seem to be contained in an 86kb config.ini file.

And as always, no download links from me. I’ll be playing with everyone else on release day. (Got to play my Super Metroid game anyway …)

Beware of spoilers, everyone!

Original story [Sun 3rd Oct, 2021 08:05 BST]: It seems Metroid horror is the youngest victim of a “leak”. According to social media and sites like ResetEra, footage of the game is now making the rounds online.

We have looked at some parts of the internet ourselves and can confirm this. On one page – with quite a few clips – there was footage of what is considered the “second” boss in the game.

In other words, if you are worried about spoilers, don’t search or look at anything related to Metroid Dread for the next five days until you get hold of your own copy.

The game is already in the hands of reviewers and our Metroid Dread review will go live next week before it officially launches. Metroid Dread was described as the conclusion to the original Metroid saga, so the story is expected to be very exciting.

“The first 2D Metroid game in 19 years with a new story is coming to Nintendo Switch this year. Metroid Dread is a direct sequel to Metroid Fusion from 2002 and completes the five-part saga that focuses on the strange, interrelated fates of the bounty hunter Samus and the Metroids who began with the original Metroid for NES. “

Whenever we hear further developments, we will definitely let you know.
