Most of the games set in the Warhammer 40K universe have drawn on the legacy of the setting in tabletop strategy games, but there have been a few where you could feel the power of the Adeptus Astartes in person. One of the best of these is Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, which is now old enough to have a 10-year anniversary edition – a free upgrade if you already own Space Marine on Steam.

Space Marine is a hack ‘n slash third-person shooter that debuted on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011 and wastes no time getting you into the action. Once you’ve introduced Captain Titus of the Ultramarines, he’ll strap on an Assault Jump Pack and jump out of a crippled Thunderhawk over Forge World Graia, which is being ambushed by orcs.

From the moment his feet hit the ground, Titus sets out to bleed any greenskin that comes into view and uses more and more weapons as the campaign progresses. Space Marine pushes you into hand-to-hand combat encounters with the bloody executions being the only way for Titus to regain his health ready.

It’s a good time Here is the trailer:

The new Anniversary Edition includes every DLC relic released for Space Marine, including armor sets for the Blood Angels, Salamanders, Alpha Legion Champion, Legion of the Damned, Emperor’s Elite, and Traitor Legions. There are also gold relic versions of the bolter and chain sword, a Power Sword, as well as the Chaos Unleashed Map Pack, Dreadnought Assault, Iron Hand Veteran Chapter Pack and Death Guard Champion Chapter Pack.

If you don’t already own Space Marine, it’s currently available on Steam for 66% list price, so you can pick it up for $ 20.39 / £ 13.59.
