Nintendo Life | Latest Updates
Apple just announced its shiny new bondage slabs for 2021, and amidst the many oh-so-small improvements annually, the larger battery capacity is one of the big improvements across the iPhone 13 lineup.
On average, the battery size has increased by 13 percent compared to last year’s models, which means that we are approaching the battery size of the Nintendo Switch – but in a smartphone.
In fact, the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s 16.75 Wh battery means it outperforms the Nintendo Switch’s power cell at 16 Wh. The same battery is also found in the upcoming Nintendo Switch OLED model.
The iPhone 13 Pro Max now has a bigger battery than the Nintendo Switch, which is kind of weird. https://t.co/I1ZGEd3Jr5– FalKoopa🌈 (@FalKoopa_) September 20, 2021
Aside from a simple capacity comparison, there is of course little reason to compare these two devices as they both do very different things. The iPhone 13 Pro Max has to be switched on all day long as it is primarily a communication device – while the switch is a dedicated gaming platform and does not have to connect to 5G signal towers and the like. It’s also worth noting that the iPhone 13 Pro Max has a display with a higher resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Oh, and it costs a whopping $ 1,099 / £ 1,049.
Still, it’s interesting to note that when the Switch launched in early 2017, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were Apple’s current phones. The iPhone 7 had a 7.45 Wh battery while the larger iPhone 7 Plus had an 11.10 Wh version. That gives you a good idea of how far smartphones have come over the life of the switch.
