‘Basic Instinct’ star Sharon Stone receives the Golden Icon Award at the 17th Zurich Film Festival.
The actress is honored with the highest award of the festival.
The star will personally receive the award on September 25th in Zurich. Following the award ceremony, Martin Scorsese’s thriller “Casino” will be shown, which, according to The Hollywood Reporter, earned the actress an Oscar nomination.
She achieved international recognition in 1992 as “Catherine Tramell” in the erotic thriller “Basic Instinct”, for which she received her first Golden Globe nomination for best actress in a feature film.
Sharon Stone received further critical acclaim for her performance in Martin Scorsese’s 1995 epic crime drama “Casino”, which won a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
“Sharon Stone is a true icon of the seventh art,” says Christian Junge, artistic director of the Zurich Film Festival.
“She is a woman Hitchcock would have loved. Her irresistible charm, a great human depth, the talent for the most diverse roles and the ability to captivate an audience like no other are among her outstanding characteristics. At a time when the film business was dominated by men, she prevailed in the fight against sexism and thus became a great role model for many women in the film business. “
Sharon Stone will also hold a master class “where she will give the public a fascinating glimpse into her creative process and remarkable career,” organizers told The Hollywood Reporter.
