Millie Bobby Brown is a very popular teenage actress. The beauty rose to fame with her time on Netflix Stranger Things and has been one of the most haunted teenage celebrities on social media ever since. In 2019, Brown spoke about being bullied at school and gave a speech about it at the United Nations.
The Godzilla actress was only 15 years old when she gave a powerful speech at UN headquarters on World Children’s Day as the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
Speaking of her personal experience of being bullied in school as a child, Millie Bobby Brown said, “At school I was bullied by a group of students. I remember feeling helpless. School used to be a safe place. Now I was afraid to leave. I didn’t know who to trust – who to turn to. “
Millie Bobby Brown continued, “Like millions of other girls around the world, I was bullied and molested online. It is a terrifying feeling to look at your phone and see that the messages people are sending you are full of anger, hatred, and even threats. Many of them come from strangers. Anonymous trolls on the internet. Like all tyrants, they gain their power by taking power away from others, by making them feel as fearful and helpless as I do. “
This wasn’t the first time the Stranger Things actress spoke about bullying. In 2018, Brown gave a moving speech about it during the 2018 MTV Movie and TV Awards.
Advice to the victims, Millie said, “Somewhere in the world today – right now – a young girl is being bullied online. She is afraid. She is vulnerable. She feels alone. My message to them is: You are not alone. There are people who take care of you. There are people who will listen when you ask for help. You have rights. “
