Donald Trump did not take a warning from GOP poll researcher Tony Fabrizio in the months leading up to the 2020 election, write Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa in their upcoming book Peril.
When Fabrizio Trump said after his failed comeback rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma in July 2020 that voters were “tired,” “tired of the chaos,” and “tired of the turmoil” of his administration, Trump reportedly shot back:
Oh, are you tired? Are you damn tired? I’m damn tired and tired too.
Trump then began a verbal tirade about Joe Biden, calling him “too old,” according to excerpts from the book Insider published on Friday.
Fabrizio reportedly advised Trump against portraying Biden as a “crazy liberal” saying, “I don’t think people will buy it.”
But Trump obviously didn’t pay attention.
Woodward and Costa’s book on the Trump-White House’s final months is due to be released Tuesday.
Other details the duo uncovered include Trump’s angry republican attacks and threats to tear his friendship with former Vice President Mike Pence.
