4 Filipino Olympic medalists in the latest PH postage stamps

GINATILAN, CEBU – Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) launched its latest series of stamps on Saturday September 18, 2021 in honor of four Filipino athletes who made the country proud during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Featured athletes included weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, who won the country’s first Olympic gold medal; Boxers Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam, who both won silver medals; and Eumir Marcial, who also won a bronze medal in boxing.

The stamps will highlight each medalist’s winning moment.

“Given Team Philippines’ success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, PHLPost is issuing stamps celebrating the triumph of four (4) Filipino medalists who have brought honor and pride to the entire nation,” PHLPost said in a Facebook post .

PHLPost also launched stamps with the message: “Keep the Faith! Be a hero – save your family, save the economy, save the country, save lives. Get your dose, fight the coronavirus ”

“The world’s first postage stamp of its kind – promoting vaccination as a means of combating coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19),” added the post.

The official launch of the said stamps took place on the facade of the Manila Central Post Office Building in Ermita, Manila.

The event was attended by PHLPost chairman Norman N. Fulgencio, Visayas secretary’s presidential assistant Michael Lloyd Dino and the four Olympic medalists. / rcg
