Weeks after the very first WitcherCon took place online, Netflix has now released a teaser trailer for its new anime film feature The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The film was animated by Studio MIR and shows a younger version of Vesemir – Geralt’s father figure and mentor.

According to The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the animation shows what Kaer Morhen and a larger brotherhood would have looked like before the live-action version of the second season of The Witcher. And here is a more official description of Netflix:

“The world of The Witcher expands in this anime origin story: Before Geralt, there was his mentor Vesemir – a daring young sorcerer who escaped a life of poverty to kill monsters for coins in the kingdom, Vesemir is on a terrifying adventure that forces him to face the demons of his past. “

As mentioned in the trailer, this new animated film will air exclusively on Netflix on August 23 of this year. The animation will be followed by the second season of the live action show on December 17th. You can see a full trailer for this in our previous post.

CD Projekt Red also confirmed this at WitcherCon The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition would get some free DLC inspired by The Witcher series on Netflix. This DLC will be available for every version of the game (including the Switch) and more details will be announced shortly.
