Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) broke it off and cut through the GOP lies to explain that every Republican in Congress voted against police funding.

Rep. Lieu tweeted:

I served in local government. A significant part of the municipal funds goes to the police. A significant part of the American rescue plan went to the local government.

It’s just a fact that every Republican member of Congress voted NO to funding the police. https://t.co/ru9weIWPlc

This is not a complicated concept. In 2017, 9.2% of all municipal funds went to police stations. Police departments make up a significant portion of local government spending.

Every single Republican in Congress voted against spending $ 350 billion to fund local law enforcement. Republicans panic for good reason. Their strategy of making President Biden unpopular by making his legislative priorities partisan has blown them up.

Republicans falsely claim that the Democrats want to let the police down, but you won’t find party-wide votes from their members of Congress against police funding.

Only one political party is on record voting against funding the police as crime rises in the country and that is the same republican party that claims to love the police even though they did not want to provide the local governments with the resources to who you need to employ the police and protect the communities in the country.
