Experience the picturesque Italian Riviera with Luca, set in a beautiful coastal town in the late 1950s and early 1960s. It captures the magic and adventure of summer and shows the authenticity of the region through foods like pasta and ice cream, bright colors and the breathtaking landscape of the sea. Director Enrico Casarosa grew up in Italy and Luca was born largely from his own childhood memories. He wanted the production team to understand the aspects that he valued the most and at the same time let them discover peculiarities, so artists wandered to the Italian coast as part of the two research trips.

Luca is the story of a boy who experiences an unforgettable summer full of ice cream, pasta and endless scooter rides. Luca shares this adventure with his new best friend Alberto, but all the fun is threatened by a closely guarded secret: Both are sea monsters from another world just below the surface of the water.
Auditioned over 1,200 children
Luca has a charming cast of characters that include humans, sea monsters, and sea monsters who look human when out of the water. These characters have been voiced by talented actors, including 14-year-old award-winning star Jacob Tremblay, who voiced his voice for the title character, Luca Paguro. In fact, over 1,200 children auditioned before the creators found the perfect match.
Luca is a magical coming-of-age story with a unique theme that explores the desire to experience cultures beyond our own. Luca is secretly a sea monster from another world just below the surface of the water, but he has a secret fascination for everything human. As an ode to friendships that change us and families who want to protect us, the film shows how the young character celebrates a different culture and at the same time learns to honor his origins.

The voice actors like Jacob Tremblay as Luca Paguro, Jack Dylan Grazer as Alberto Scorfano, Emma Berman as Giulia Marcovaldo, Saverio Raimondo as Stadtbully Ercole Viscon, Maya Rudolph as Lucas mother Daniela Paguro and many others picked up their voices for their respective characters from their homes .
