Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of former President Donald Trump and one of his top advisors during his tenure, has a book deal.
Broadside Books, a conservative imprint from HarperCollins Publishers, announced that Mr. Kushner’s book will be out in early 2022.
Mr Kushner has started work on the memoir and is expected to write on everything from the Middle East to criminal justice reform to how the government is dealing with the pandemic.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Mr Kushner’s signing comes during a debate within the book industry that could allow Trump officials, especially Mr Trump himself, to be published without sparking a revolt in the publisher.
Thousands of Simon & Schuster staff and writers signed an open letter this spring condemning the publisher’s decision to sign former Vice President Mike Pence.
In a Simon & Schuster town hall in May, employees confronted CEO Jonathan Karp, who replied that he believed the company’s mission was to hear opposing sides of the political debates.
He also said he didn’t want to publish Mr Trump because he didn’t think the former president would write an honest book.
