YouTuber and professional distance runner Elijah Orr has already tried all sorts of physical challenges on his channel, including mimicking the training of Olympic athlete Mo Farah and famous Navy SEAL David Goggins. In his most recent video, Orr goes where several other influencers have been (and almost puked) and adopts the PFT (Physical Fitness Test) test used by the US Marine Corps.

The test consists of:

  • Pull-ups to failure
  • 2 minutes crunches OR a plank
  • 3 mile run

Orr starts the push-ups. It takes at least 5 repetitions to get a score, while 23 would get him top marks. He manages to do 20 consecutive reps in 50 seconds before falling off the bar.

While most of the other YouTubes that took part in the test opted for 2 minute crunches, Orr opts for the second round with a board. “I’m much better at boards than I am at crunches,” he says. “And I think it’ll just be a cool change of scenery.” He manages to hold a front plank for 4 minutes and 20 seconds, which gives him the maximum score for that part of the test.

“It was very difficult in the end,” he says. “I was definitely shaking a lot.”

The third and final event is the 3 mile run. And unlike some bodybuilders who have already tried this test, Orr isn’t concerned about the ongoing portion of the test. this is his bread and butter, after all. It takes him 18 minutes to get 100 points. And even after slightly exceeding the distance and running 3.01 miles, he finished the run in 17 minutes and 31 seconds. This earned him a total of 290 points out of a possible 300; a “first class” result.
