Nintendo has announced additional details on the upcoming Amiibo cards for the collaboration between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Sanrio. The cards will be sold in sets exclusively in Target Stores later this month.
Sanrio is the company in charge of Hello Kitty and her friends. The collaboration includes My Melody, Keroppi, and more with new residents, styles, and items.

The cards all contain a villager as well as a collection of items. Rilla will have Hello Kitty items. Marty has an assortment of Pompompurin merchandise, while Etoile has Little Twin Star merchandise. Chelsea brings a selection of My Melody items, while Chai offers Cinnamoroll items. Most recently, Toby has traditional Japanese Zen items for Keroppi.
All special guests have suitable outfits to represent their Sanrio theme. The trailer shows the island representative transforming himself into a special outfit, either with a dress or a hat that matches the occasion.

Fortunately for the players, a pack of amiibo cards contains six cards. Players don’t have to buy multiple packs to collect their favorite characters or items.
Scanning an amiibo card is easy. First, players have to convert Resident Services into a building and then build the campsite. From there, players can invite the visiting village to live on their island. Sometimes a villager will ask that an item be made for him.
When their island is full, they have to ask a resident to leave. After completing the required steps, players will have to wait for the villager to move in permanently.
The players hold the figure or card to the sensor on their Nintendo Switch to get access to various Sanrio items.
There is a second method of scanning an amiibo card or figure for a poster of a specific NPC or resident. Players must first unlock Harvey’s Island.
While scanning through Harvey’s Island, players must invite the villager to take part in photoshops. After scanning the card, players can access their poster using NookStop in Resident Services.
The collaboration takes place in the same month as the long-awaited Super Mario Bros.-themed furniture and clothing. Players will only have access to the Mario-themed merchandise for a limited time, but are celebrating the series’ 35th anniversary.
The new elements for collaboration will be available on March 18th. Nintendo warns in the announcement trailer that an update will be available this time.
