The Telluride Film Festival is always one of the most influential parts of any awards season. The lack of a festival this year was definitely a blow to the campaign. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic made this impossible. Here in 2021, however, the powers that be at Telluride are planning a return to a high degree of normalcy. You have announced that the Telluride Film Festival will take place in person from September 2-6. Can it happen We will see. However, one certainly hopes that by the fall things will be at a point where something like this will be possible, that is for sure.
Here is part of Variety’s story:
The Telluride Film Festival is optimistic that it can safely host a personal event in the mountain town of Colorado through September, including an additional day of programming. The festival will take place from September 2nd to 6th, announced the organizers on Friday.
The managing director Julie Huntsinger said in a statement: “We are thrilled to announce our dates. Our position on the festival calendar gives us hope that we can hold the festival this year. We are science based and continuously assess the global pandemic in terms of health, travel and live events. Time will tell, but in the meantime we’re planning and putting together an incredible program. “
The festival is not making new passes available as most pass holders have extended their 2020 passes to this year. “Without knowing the capacity limitations of the theater, the small number of remaining passes is withheld out of caution,” said Huntsinger.
The festival is putting together a waiting list for passes.
“We would like to take this moment to thank everyone for their continued support of the Telluride Film Festival. There have been some really remarkable souls who have done everything in the past 12 months, ”said Huntsinger. “It’s been a difficult year for everyone and we hope to see our audience again in the beautiful mountains of Telluride to do what we do best: celebrate the art of film.”
