Deathloop turns out to be quite a unique shooter from the developer Arcane Studios. They’ve clearly gotten into the looping nature where an assassin named Colt tries to get out of an endless time loop by taking out assassins before the clock is reset and forcing him to relive the same events.

It’s one of the more unique shooter concepts in the recent past that requires players to use a lot of strategy to figure out the repeating loop puzzle. There’s also the multiplayer aspect, where players can jump into another player’s session as rival assassin Julianna.
The game certainly has a ton of novelties to offer, and thanks to a new gameplay trailer, there are even more aspects to be broken down by the time Deathloop is released in May. The new trailer comes from PlayStation’s State of Play event, which kicked off early today (February 25).

In the trailer we see an official song for the game called Deja Vu – with Sencit Music and FJORA. It definitely gives Deathloop the feel of a spy movie, almost like something out of a James Bond movie.
In addition to this catchy song, the loop design is introduced. If you are killed as a Colt by one of the assassins, the time will reset and you will have to start your attacks again. This gives you an opportunity to learn from your mistakes, and it can take many failed attempts before you finally see the avenues you need to take.
This is quite an interesting design that should give Deathloop a lot of replayability. There’s also a heavy focus on Colt’s rival Julianna. It may appear out of nowhere while you figure out what tactic to implement. This should keep players on their toes during their looping adventures.
If you’d like to see for yourself which way Arkane Studios Deathloop is headed, check out the trailer above. The fight looks pretty decent already, and it has a ton of unique resources that should provide players with fun ways to take out target bombers.

Only a few more months until Deathloop is officially released. It’s still pretty early, but the last couple of gameplay trailers feature a fun shooter that is a welcome addition to the fairly crowded shooter room. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype and if the shooter genre continues to innovate after its launch.
